HUNGARY - Hungary's unofficial government newspaper Magyar Nemzet (Hungarian Nation) often floats issues that Prime Minister Viktor Orban and his government would like to gauge public opinion on without addressing those issues themselves. Last weekend, it happened again. On Sunday (August 15), the paper opened debate on an issue that had previously been deemed off-limits even in Hungarian government circles: Hungary's exit from the EU. "It is time to talk about Huxit" was the title of the Magyar Nemzet opinion piece. The news went off like a bomb in Hungary — with most larger media outlets reporting, opposition politicians up in arms and pundits expressing concern. It was hardly surprising, for in spite of deep political divides, social and cross-party consensus held that the country's rightful place was in the European Union. Until now, that view had been one of the very few things most Hungarians could agree on. Now, however, for the first time since Orban came to power in 2010, Hungary's exit from the EU is being openly broached by the government's most important news outlet. It is a situation without precedent.

My money is on ‘yes’. Imagine the woke paradise of the future. The Taliban in Afghanistan would certainly recognise it, they brook no deviation from their strict interpretation of Islam and will destroy you if you don’t go along with them. That’s because ‘God’ says that this is a perfectly reasonable thing to do.

GERMANY - The takeover of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan has not only led to the complete collapse of the puppet regime headed by President Ashraf Ghani and the Afghan army, it has also exploded the mountain of lies used to justify the longest, biggest and most expensive military mission conducted by Germany’s post-war army (Bundeswehr). For 20 years, the government, the opposition and the country’s servile media have led the German public to believe that the Bundeswehr was in Afghanistan to drill wells, enable girls to go to school and encourage nation building. None of this was true. The Afghan war was a dirty colonial war from the very start, with all that entails: massacres, torture, crime and corruption.

USA - The National Abortion Federation has told doctors in Texas it will stop referring patients and sending money to clinics that offer abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy. In North Texas, the Texas Equal Action Fund will likely “pause” its ride-share program that helps women reach abortion appointments. Dr Bhavik Kumar, an abortion provider for Planned Parenthood, has cleared his schedule to fit in as many patients as he can before the end of the month.

USA - The Food and Drug Administration on Monday granted full approval to Pfizer and BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine – becoming the first in the US to win the coveted designation and giving even more businesses, schools and universities greater confidence to adopt vaccine mandates.

USA - Bands of heavy rain overwhelmed storm drains and cars, flooding roads and homes in central New Jersey as Tropical Storm Henri lashed the region on Sunday. Middlesex County was especially hard hit. According to the National Weather Service, as much as 4-8 inches of rain fell across much of the center of the state by the afternoon, with small pockets receiving 7-10 inches. Multiple posts on social media showed examples of severe, sudden flash flooding caused by the storm. On Sunday afternoon, FOX 5 NY Weather showed that radar estimated rainfall in Jamesburg, New Jersey was 9.7" with more rain falling.

EUROPE - European Union and UK leaders have voiced their criticism of how US President Joe Biden handled America’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, a stark difference from the praises they gave at the beginning of his presidency. “We lived a little bit the great illusion,” said French Parliamentarian Nathalie Loiseau. “We thought America was back, while in fact, America withdraws.” “To see their commander-in-chief call into question the courage of men I fought with, to claim that they ran, is shameful,” Tugendhat said. Chris Bryant, from the opposition Labour Party, called Biden’s remarks about Afghan soldiers, “some of the most shameful comments ever from an American president.” Soeder said Washington should provide funding and shelter to people fleeing Afghanistan, since “the United States of America bear the main responsibility for the current situation.” “The people had a glimpse of a better life — but that has been torn away.”

But now we have lost the war in Afghanistan and the Taliban are partying like it is 1999 in the presidential palace in Kabul. As a result, our spooks need a new group of “potential terrorists” to send to Guantanamo Bay, and so they are setting their sights on you.

USA - Proven wrong that social workers and psychologists can substitute for street cops, Democrats are now backtracking on ‘defunding the police’ efforts as crime rates surge. These reckless leaders should be punished at the polls. With violent crime on the rise, the Democratic Party fears it may start paying a political price for supporting last year’s massive street protests that saw Black Lives Matter and Antifa demonstrators loot and torch a billion-dollar swath of destruction from sea to shining sea following the killing of George Floyd by a white police officer. Seattle’s experiment in cop-free living – which saw marauding bands of thugs descend on the streets as night fell – lasted less than one month once people started getting killed. Despite proving for themselves that defunding the police due to a few rotten apples in the ranks is not the answer, Democratic cities and states got busy slashing police budgets just to appease the woke vigilantes among them.

USA - You can’t have a civilization without civility. We may possess technology that is more advanced than any previous generation of Americans has had, but when it comes to how we treat one another and how we conduct ourselves, we are the worst generation in US history by a very wide margin. We have truly become a “Hollywood culture”, and I don’t mean that in a good way. The average American spends 238 minutes a day watching television, and it is inevitable that putting so much garbage into our minds is going to result in garbage coming out. Most Americans learn how to express themselves by emulating what they see on their screens, and so now we have tens of millions of extremely crude people running around all over the place.

USA - Yes, the Taliban’s extreme, but I secretly welcome this defeat of the US ideology of globalism, liberalism and consumerism. Afghanistan’s new rulers represent the opposite to the neoliberalism that foists transgenderism, feminism, LGBTQ+ and CRT ideology on us. Afghans don’t want or need all that – and neither do we. As I write, blue- and pink-haired Silicon Valley tech workers are desperately scrambling to determine what is acceptable for us to say on social media about Afghanistan. “What can we permit them to think?” they are wondering. Perhaps they are waiting for their overlords to tell them what is going to be permissible or not. However, how can a Westerner like me feel sympathy for the Taliban? Believe it or not, there are many who view the recent dramatic turn of events with an observer's dark joy. Those who are tired of seeing their own culture and religion eroded from within, and who feel a kind of secret relief at seeing someone successfully resist globalism, feminism, LGBTQ+ and critical race theory (CRT) ideology.
