GERMANY - Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (Democrat for New York) draft “Green New Deal” produced anger, confusion, and outright laughter across the nation earlier this month, effectively proposing to eradicate the health insurance, nuclear energy, and fossil fuel industries overnight in addition to providing “economic security” to those “unable or unwilling to work.” While Ocasio-Cortez’s proposals cater to leftist, radical environmentalists and are utterly ludicrous in an economic sense, causing even CNN’s Jake Tapper to balk at the $40 trillion price tag, it appears that other nations are leaping head first into similar proposals that invite economic destruction.

USA - The Green New Deal blueprint introduced by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was crafted by three far-left organizations and is being pushed by a coalition of well-funded professional progressive groups and known leftist agitators. Some of the organizations helping to promote the Green New Deal have ties to financing from billionaire George Soros and trace their roots to such radical groups as Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter.

USA - Google’s never ending quest to dominate every aspect of your life has quietly crept into the banking sector according to this 9-5 Google report. Google is on a mission to make sure every bank in the US supports Google Pay. Already in the month of February alone, Google Pay has picked up over forty new banks. Google Pay is not quite as simple as just connecting your credit card information to your devices. Your bank or credit union is also involved, needing to give their approval for Google to use their cards with Google Pay. Google keeps an up-to-date list of every bank and credit union in the US that has given this approval to Google Pay, and seems to update it almost weekly. The latest updates in February show that Google Pay has gained support for 43 new banks across the US.

USA - Fortunately the world today is very different from that of 2003, Washington’s decrees are less effective in determining the world order. But in spite of this new, more balanced division of power amongst several powers, Washington appears ever more aggressive towards allies and enemies alike, regardless of which US president is in office.

UK - The government will apply tariffs to food imports to protect British farmers in a no-deal scenario, the environment secretary, Michael Gove, has confirmed. And, contrary to claims by hard Brexiters, he warned that delays were likely in Calais because of mandatory EU checks on food imports on the French side of the channel. The tariff regime Britain would like to apply in the event of no deal will be revealed in the “next few days”. He told the National Farmers’ Union’s annual conference in Birmingham that reports that Britain would operate a zero tariff regime in order to secure frictionless trade in a no-deal scenario were “not accurate”. “One thing I can reassure you it will not be the case that we will have zero rate tariffs on products, there will be protections for sensitive sections of agriculture and food production,” Gove said.

USA - We thought the problem was limited to fraudulent overseas suppliers; but fake organics are also grown in the US, and the USDA is clueless. Action Alert! A Missouri farmer has been charged with ripping off food companies and consumers by falsely marketing more than $140 million worth of corn, soybeans, and wheat as organic. Observers have called the scale of this fraud “jaw dropping” and likely the largest case of its kind involving US farmers. The level of deception in the organic industry has reached epidemic proportions: a USDA study found that 40% of all organic food sold in the US tested positive for prohibited pesticides. This is an outrage, but the USDA shows no signs of deviating from business as usual.

ISRAEL - Dozens of Palestinians tried to force their way into the Golden Gate site on the Temple Mount on Tuesday, triggering scuffles with police officers, eyewitnesses said. It now seems, however, that some Palestinians are again trying to trigger a crisis with Israel over the Temple Mount. The timing is evidently linked to the upcoming elections. These Palestinians believe that the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is keen on avoiding a major confrontation over the holy site ahead of the vote. They believe that this is the right time to try and change the status quo by embarking on moves like the one to reopen the Golden Gate site.

USA - President Trump has threatened to reignite a transatlantic trade war by imposing hefty tariffs on European car imports. “I like punitive tariffs”, he said ahead of a US Commerce Department report this week which is expected to recommend that the EU vehicle industry be classified as a threat to US national security because it robs the country of an industrial base needed to produce military hardware. Mr Trump is expected to raise tariffs tenfold from 2.5 per cent to 25 per cent within the next three months. Relations between the US and Europe have now slumped to their worst level since the start of the Iraq war as Brussels vowed to retaliate with “swift and adequate” measures of its own.

USA - Economic numbers all over the world continue to get worse, even New York Times columnist Paul Krugman is now warning of “an unavoidable global recession”. Unfortunately, most Americans still have absolutely no idea that this is happening. Most ordinary citizens are still under the impression that everything is going to be just fine, but the numbers suggest otherwise. The Baltic Dry Index just plummeted to the lowest level that we have seen in three years, and this is yet another indication that the global trade war is causing widespread economic pain.  And according to Bloomberg, global economic growth has now dropped to the lowest level that we have seen since the Great Recession…

UK - Three Romanian migrants have been imprisoned for beating a man to death with shears and pick-axe handles in the street in Ilford, London. Fellow Romanian Sandel Serbu, 36, was ambushed by brothers Razvan Vladescu, 27, and Araman-Nardi Stoica, 25, and their relative Ionut Vasile, 28, according to an official statement from London’s Metropolitan Police Force. Vladescu and his accomplices tracked the unwitting Serbu and set upon him as he was heading into a shop to buy cigarettes, “repeatedly hitting him full-force in the head with their weapons.” The attack only came to an end when an ambulance crew who happened to be passing the scene on their way to another emergency intervened, but “their sirens and blue lights did little, if anything, to deter the attackers” at first, according to the prosecution.

ISRAEL - Though Israelis are scarcely surprised by the phenomenon of Palestinian terrorism, they were nonetheless sickened by the recent rape of a 19-year old girl, Ori Ansbacher, by Arafat Irfaiya, a 29-year old Palestinian Arab from Hebron. Upon capture by Israeli forces, Irfaiya made plain the motive underlying his foul deed when he told his interrogators, “I entered Israel with a knife because I wanted to become a martyr and murder a Jew.” Clearly unrepentant, Irfaiya, for good measure, smirked at TV cameras during his court remand hearing.

USA - Trump’s call to European countries to “take back” and prosecute jihadists captured in Syria has met quite a mixed reaction, with Germany expressing legal concerns over the move and Denmark rejecting it altogether. The bold demand was tweeted by the US president on Sunday. The options for Europe are simple – to take Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) fighters "back," or the US and its subordinate militants in Syria "will be forced to release them." The call was heard, yet some countries flatly rejected it. "We are talking about the most dangerous people in the world. We should not take them back," a spokesperson for Denmark's prime pinister, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, said. The official described Trump's call as premature, claiming that the situation in Syria was far from stable.

USA - Facebook deliberately broke privacy and competition law and should urgently be subject to statutory regulation, according to a devastating parliamentary report denouncing the company and its executives as “digital gangsters”. The final report of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport select committee’s 18-month investigation into disinformation and fake news accused Facebook of purposefully obstructing its inquiry and failing to tackle attempts by Russia to manipulate elections. “Democracy is at risk from the malicious and relentless targeting of citizens with disinformation and personalised ‘dark adverts’ from unidentifiable sources, delivered through the major social media platforms we use every day,” warned the committee’s chairman, Damian Collins.
