USA - Women lawmakers in Tennessee have introduced legislation that would restore full legal protections for unborn babies should Roe vs Wade be reversed. “It has always been the priority of Tennessee’s pro-life movement to restore the fullest possible protection to the largest number of unborn children and women in our state,” said Brian Harris, president of Tennessee Right to Life. “While states like New York are moving to strip any limits to abortion – even at the moments before birth – Tennessee wants to be known for protecting our children.”
USA - Why, I kept asking myself last week, are so many Americans so livid about Governor Andrew Cuomo (Democrat for New York) signing into law a bill passed jubilantly by the state legislature that makes it possible for women to abort full-term babies. Sure, the bill is morally repugnant and the jubilant applause by the legislature was grotesque, but 19 other states — including Illinois — allow full-term babies to be killed and for the same reasons.
UK - Anyone who views terrorist propaganda once online can be jailed for up to 15 years under new laws that have sparked human rights concerns. MPs had urged the government to scrap plans to criminalise viewing “information useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism”, which goes further than much-used laws that made physically collecting, downloading or disseminating the material illegal. A United Nations inspector accused the government of straying towards “thought crime” with the proposal, which originally stated that people would have to access propaganda “on three or more different occasions” to commit a terror offence. But the benchmark was removed from the draft law, meaning a single click is now illegal. Journalists, academic researchers or people who had “no reason to believe” they were accessing terrorist propaganda are exempt.
USA - A “queer, black woman” who attends Yale University‘s Jonathan Edwards College and writes as a “Staff Columnist” for the school’s Yale Daily News paper – and who’s an openly anti-white racist – recently penned an op-ed calling on all Yale students to spy on their straight, white male classmates in order to collect any “evidence” that might destroy their careers later on in life.
USA - Imagine seeing yourself in a porn video. Naked. Violated. Except you have no recollection of the act, of the room you’re in, partner you’re with, or the camera filming. That’s because it didn’t really happen, at least not to you. Or imagine seeing yourself in a video saying things you’ve never said before, controversial things, the sort of stuff that could cost you your job or alienate you from family and friends. The voice you hear is definitely yours, and so are the turns of phrase, but you have no recollection of what’s being said, and you’re horrified at what you hear.
USA - Last week, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez embarrassed herself and the entire Democratic Party when she finally pulled the cover back on her much-anticipated Green New Deal legislation… and it turned out to be a ridiculous dud. One of the most absurd bills to ever be announced in Washington, the GND’s details immediately sparked a firestorm of mockery which led to Ocasio-Cortez and her people yanking an elaborate FAQ section off the internet and declaring it a distortion of the bill’s reality.
UK - Do you remember that wonderful feeling of euphoria that we all woke up to on the morning of the 24 June 2016? That we defied all the odds, we defied Project Fear, we defied those who knew better than us and we had voted for something really meaningful, that our voted really counted this time? As I drove over Westminster Bridge at 5am for an TV interview, the sun was shining and I saw the Union flag flying majestically over Parliament and thought, we've taken back control of our sovereignty and our flag, the symbol of Great Britain, has real meaning again. I had a tear in my eye, excitement in my stomach and a spring in my step. And now those feelings are crushed.
USA - Almost everyone that goes out to visit one of our major cities on the west coast has a similar reaction. Those that must live among the escalating decay are often numb to it, but most of those that are just in town for a visit are absolutely shocked by all of the trash, human defecation, crime and public drug use that they encounter.
USA - This just shows what can happen when you let crazy people run a state for several decades. In the 1960s and 1970s, the possibility of moving to the west coast was “the California dream” for millions of young Americans, but now “the California dream” has turned into “the California nightmare”. According to a brand new survey, 53 percent of those living in California are considering leaving the state, and there are certainly lots of reasons to hit the road and never look back.
USA - A new investigation has revealed that no matter the circumstances, American cops shoot almost 1,000 people dead every year. The line between life and death can be crossed in a split second, as was the case with 20-year-old Willie McCoy on Saturday night. Police came upon the amateur rapper sleeping in his car with a handgun on his lap outside a Taco Bell in Vallejo, California. Officers drew their weapons when McCoy stirred and woke up, and ordered him to “keep his hands visible.” When McCoy allegedly moved his hands towards his weapon, the officers opened fire. McCoy died on the scene. Saturday’s shooting was just one of the almost 1,000 fatal police-involved shootings that take place in the United States every year, according to data compiled by the Washington Post.
USA - A character for a primetime children’s series on the Disney Channel uttered the words “I’m gay,” marking a first in the network’s history. The hit series Andi Mack, a coming-of-age show chronicling the lives of tweens, is the top-rated series on American television in its time period among all children ages 6–14. The median age of Andi Mack viewers is 10 years old. Joshua Rush, who plays the character of Cyrus, an openly gay 13-year-old, told Good Morning America Monday that he believes the show is amazing “because it makes diversity normal.” LGBT advocates have heaped praise on the Disney Channel for its decision to weave a gay story arc into its series, and GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has nominated the show for a 2019 media award in the category of Outstanding Kids & Family Programming.
USA - Transgender activists are lobbying the courts to achieve their goal of removing children from the homes of parents who refuse to affirm their child’s new, self-proclaimed gender identity. Like many other left-wing political identities whose ideology is unpopular with most Americans, transgender activists have been using the courts as a means to legally take gender-confused children away from parents who will not allow hormone treatments to begin transition to the opposite sex. Transgender activists have a “plan,” wrote senior contributor Margot Cleveland in a report at the Federalist. “Use the government to force parents to affirm a false sex for their child, agree to hormone blockers, and accept a transition to their son or daughter’s preferred gender,” she explained. “If parents refuse? Removal of the child from the family, due to alleged medical neglect.”
USA - Coresight Research released an outlook of 2019 store closures Wednesday, saying, there’s “no light at the end of the tunnel,” according to several reports. According to the global market research firm’s report, a mere six weeks into 2019, United States retailers have announced 2,187 closings of physical stores. That’s up 23 percent compared to last year. Those closings include 749 Gymboree stores, 251 Shopko store, and 94 Charlotte Russe locations. This may not seem like such a big deal especially if you don’t often shop, but it’s a red flag for the overall economy. Either customers/consumers now have less money and aren’t willing to borrow (use credit cards) to spend at stores anymore, or they are already maxed out and cannot spend.
EUROPE - Vice President Mike Pence told a conference of European and Middle East leaders on Thursday that Iran is plotting to eliminate Israel from the face of the earth, and seeks to unleash a ‘new Holocaust.’ With Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu watching, Pence said in Poland that Tehran poses ‘the greatest threat to peace and security’ in the region. Hours earlier, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters that ‘confronting Iran’ is a necessary step for any nation that wants to ‘achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.’ ‘The three H’s — the Houthis, Hamas and Hezbollah — these are real threats … you can’t get peace in the Middle East without pushing back against Iran,’ Pompeo said, referring to the Islamic regime’s proxies in Yemen, in Lebanon and in Syria and Iraq.
USA - In the 1990s, I watched a federal trial in a Los Angeles courtroom. The defendant was charged with selling medical drugs without a license to practice medicine. The defendant was prepared to argue that a) the substance he was selling was naturally produced in the body and b) it was effective. The prosecution moved to exclude such testimony, on the grounds that it was irrelevant. The judge agreed. Therefore, the trial was nasty, brutish, and short. The defendant was found guilty and sentenced to prison for several years.
