EUROPE - The European Union has warned Donald Trump faces a firm response if he imposes tariffs on the bloc. A spokesperson for the European Commission said the EU isn't aware of any extra tariffs being imposed on the bloc's products, but Brussels would "respond firmly" to any trading partner that "unfairly or arbitrarily" imposes them on EU goods. They said tariffs, which are effectively taxes imposed on goods imported from other countries, create "unnecessary economic disruption" and fuel inflation, as they push up prices for businesses that pass price hikes on to consumers. The spokesperson said a lot was at stake, adding tariffs are hurtful to all sides and the EU backs low tariffs to drive growth and economic stability within a strong, rules based system of trade. Brussels' warning comes after the US president told reporters on Friday (January 31) he would "absolutely" impose tariffs on the EU, accusing the bloc of treating the United States "so terribly".
FRANCE - On the training course employees are encouraged to ‘become’ plants and animals to teach empathy and inclusivity. Left-wing councils are under fire for sending staff on courses where they pretend to be trees, bats, fish and other “non-human living things” to understand the “connection between species”. Those on the right are incredulous, arguing that taxpayers’ money is being wasted teaching functionaries to speak to plants. But the courses have been defended by environmentalists who say that officials need to learn empathy and inclusivity, especially in light of climate change.
USA - In an apparent ending to weeks of intense speculation, the White House confirmed Friday that President Donald Trump will be leveling aggressive tariffs this weekend on major US trading partners. Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said Trump will be implementing 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada as well as a 10% duty on China, in retaliation for “the illegal fentanyl that they have sourced and allowed to distribute into our country. These are promises made and promises kept by the president,” Leavitt said.
USA - Just hours after Trump unveiled double-digit tariffs on the three largest US trading partners, Canada and Mexico announced their own plans for retaliatory tariffs on the US. Outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said late on Saturday that Canada will respond by placing 25% counter-tariffs on C$155 billion ($107 billion) worth of American-made products, with items including beer, wine, bourbon, fruits, fruit juices, vegetables, clothes, perfume, household appliances, plastic, and lumber subject to tariffs. Hilariously, Canada is going especially hard after alcohol produced in Republican states...
USA - Donald Trump will “absolutely” impose tariffs on the European Union, he announced on Friday as he introduced sweeping taxes on goods from China, Mexico and Canada. Speaking from the Oval Office on Friday, Mr Trump said: “Am I going to impose tariffs on the European Union? You want the truthful answer or shall I give you a political answer? Absolutely. The European Union has treated us so terribly.” The US is the UK’s largest individual trading partner, although most of Britain’s trade is in services, which would not be affected by higher goods tariffs. The UK accounts for 2 per cent of US goods imports. Stock markets fell following the announcement, but the value of the dollar jumped and gold prices hit a new record as investors reacted to Mr Trump’s decision. The reaction was muted, given the president’s intentions had been clear for months. Gold, which has been rallying since the start of the year, touched a new high above $2,800 an ounce for the first time in history on Friday.
USA - It’s a new world for energy production. The shackles are finally off. On his first day in office, President Donald J Trump fulfilled energy campaign promises by ending the Democrats’ war on fossil fuels. He issued executive orders promoting oil and gas production, ending requirements for electric vehicles and other electric appliances, and withdrawing from the Paris Agreement and other commitments of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
USA - In a major shake-up for the media landscape, the Pentagon has officially removed progressive outlets such as The New York Times, NBC News, NPR, and Politico from their privileged office spaces. Effective February 14, 2025, these legacy media giants will be replaced by more balanced and truth-driven outlets, including New York Post, One America News Network (OANN), Breitbart News, and HuffPost. This move is part of a new Annual Media Rotation Program aimed at ensuring a more diverse range of voices in the Pentagon Press Corps. For years, mainstream liberal media has dominated the narrative, pushing a biased, anti-American agenda while censoring conservative viewpoints. Now, with the inclusion of outlets committed to real journalism, the American people will finally receive transparent and fair coverage on defense and national security matters. This shift signals a new era in American journalism — one where biased reporting and fake news will no longer go unchallenged.
UK - Political ‘firewalls’ are bad for democracy – excluding ‘far-Right’ parties only further alienates voters. The Germans have what they call a “Brandmauer”, a “firewall” in their politics. It is supposed to ensure that all democratic parties unite to keep out far-Right ones. This week, the firewall was breached. In the German parliament, a motion calling for an end to illegal immigration was passed. This was made possible only by the fact that the far-Right AfD voted with the conservative Christian Democrats.
MIDDLE EAST - Even the suffering of Israeli hostages can’t wake progressives from their fantasyland morality. Chaotic scenes, the BBC called them. Well, that was putting it mildly. One could only imagine the headlines if an African woman had been forced to run the gauntlet through a mob of smartphone-wielding white men who bayed for her blood as she was released from nearly 500 days of captivity. Or paraded onstage like a prize animal against a backdrop of supremacist slogans. Racism, the media might be tempted to call it.
GERMANY - German firewall breached: Mainstream Conservative CDU Votes Along With Right-Wing AfD for Emergency Immigration Legislation – Outgoing Chancellor Scholz and Failing Greens Are Outraged. European rightwing parties are surging up ferociously in the polls, so the ‘mainstream’ parties (aka Globalists) have to resort to ‘firewalling’ the political forces that they deem to be ‘far-right.’ Now, ahead of the February snap elections, news has arisen that Germany’s ‘cordon sanitaire’ against the right has crumbled.
GERMANY - Ever since the European rightwing parties began surging up ferociously in the polls, the ‘mainstream’ parties (aka Globalists) have resorted to ‘firewalling’ the political forces that they brand as ‘far-right’. We have seen this scheme at work in France against Marine Le Pen’s RN, in the Netherlands against Geert Wilders, in Austria against Herbert Kickl – and, of course, in Germany – against the greatest ‘bogeyman’ of all: the Alternative for Germany (AfD).
ROMANIA - The 2024 presidential election in Romania was annulled by Deep State forces, under the lie of “Russian interference,” as anti-globalist candidate Calin Georgescu won, explained George Simion, a member of the Romanian parliament, to The New American’s Andrew Muller at the Make Europe Great Again Summit (MEGA). Simion, who is the mastermind and leader of MEGA while serving as the president of the Alliance for Unified Romanians (AUR) and the executive vice president of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), also explained that if Europe is to be saved, returning to the Christian worldview is pivotal.
USA - An official “mental health” app backed by the state of California is targeting vulnerable children with controversial propaganda involving the occult, the New Age, homosexuality, transgenderism, fornication, and more. The attack on biblical principles and precepts is clear. But critics are sounding the alarm.
UK - A breakthrough dubbed 'holy grail' of fertility research may be able to start the trend of single parent conception as babies of the future may be born to one person. People could soon be able to have a sprog entirely on their own using lab-grown sperm and eggs. It means one person could provide both elements using genetically re-programmed stem or skin cells. The technology would also allow throuples to have a baby in “multiplex parenting”, same sex pairs to both be biological parents, and remove any age barriers to having a child. Boffins are making such rapid strides in the field that the UK’s fertility watchdog is now urgently considering different ways people may wish to procreate. But they are facing a bucketload of ethical dilemmas.
UK - Some aspects of life under the current Government might convince you that we are living in some sort of deranged simulation. The official response to the Southport massacre provided an egregious example when the Home Secretary lamented the availability of knives on Amazon. Soon, newspapers were joining in with the “blame Bezos” inanity, casting the perpetrator as the “Amazon Killer”. It later transpired that the company’s age-verification had indeed been bypassed; but only because one of Axel Rudakubana’s parents signed for the package. If the situation weren’t so tragic it would be Dadaist in its absurdity.
